Manama, Bahrain – The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Ayesha Buaneq received a delegation of the SAH Global executive team. The purpose of the meeting was to further expand on the collaboration between the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain and SAH Global signed two years ago. The initial agreement was for the referral and treatment of Bahraini patients with Proton Therapy. Over the past two years a number of patients have been referred to SAH and successfully treated as a result of the agreement. The expanded collaboration, the first of its kind in the region, will include training, education, and knowledge transfer for the Bahraini physicians, nurses, and therapist related to Proton Therapy.
Dr. Ayesha stated, “We have been working with SAH Global for the past two years and have seen the positive outcomes for our patients as a result of the agreement. The expanded collaboration will further our commitment to provide a higher quality of life for our citizens with one of the most advanced forms of cancer treatment available today.”
As part of the agreement, Dr. Allan Thornton, a world-renowned Radiation Oncologist with over 25 years of experience in proton therapy, will conduct his biannual follow-up clinic in February for patients treated by SAH under his care at the Salmaniya Medical complex. Dr. Thornton said, “I am privileged to be able to offer Proton Therapy Oncology Services to the wonderful citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The collaboration between SAH Global and the Bahrain Ministry of Health has provided an excellent platform to effectively coordinate proton radiation oncology services with our physician colleagues in Bahrain.”
SAH Global’s Chairman, Mr. Feroz Agad, stated “I am very impressed by the level of care and commitment that Dr. Ayesha Buaneq has for the citizens of Bahrain, and has consistently emphasized that she wants the best care and treatment for all Bahraini patients. We at SAH have witnessed the implementation of those words by the dedicated team of physicians at the Salmaniya Hospital and are looking forward to further our collaboration with this expanded agreement. ”
